Global T20 Canada 2023 | All You Need To Know

The Global T20 Canada (GT20) is all set to make a scintillating comeback after four long years as the third edition of the Canada based cricket league is scheduled to commence from Thursday, July 20 in Brampton, Ontario.
The third edition?
Yes, this will be the third edition of the Global T20 Canada, which was first launched back in the year 2018 and could not continue after its second edition in 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Yuvraj Singh, Steven Smith, Kieron Pollard, Faf du Plessis are some of the biggest names in world cricket to have already played in this league in the past.
What about the teams?
Just like in the previous two editions, there will be six teams participating in the Global T20 Canada 2023 namely Brampton Wolves, Mississauga Panthers, Montreal Tigers, Surrey Jaguars, Toronto Nationals, and Vancouver Knights.
Any big stars?
The 2023 edition of the Global T20 Canada will feature some of the biggest T20 superstars from all around the globe including the likes of Chris Gayle, Andre Russell, Harbhajan Singh, Shoaib Malik, Alex Hales and many more.
What about the format?
As for the format, the Global T20 Canada will be played in an IPL-like round robin format with teams divided in two groups. Each team will play a total of seven games, twice against the two teams from the same group and once against the other three teams.
Basically, a total of 21 league matches will be played between July 20 and August 3, followed by another four matches in the playoffs which will conclude with the final taking place on August 6.
The teams finishing in the top four at the end of the league stage will go through to the playoffs, with an IPL-like format, comprising two qualifiers, one eliminator and a final.
Venue?
Just like in the previous edition in 2019, the entire competition will be played in the CAA Centre, a 5000-seat multipurpose sporting arena in Brampton, Ontario in Canada. This is the second time Brampton is hosting the tournament.
Where to watch in India?
For the cricket audience in India, there won’t be any television broadcaster for the 2023 edition of the Global T20 Canada. The tournament will be only available to watch on online streaming service FanCode.
