Mirpur witnessed a sensational all-round performance on Wednesday, as Indian batter Jemimah Rodrigues put on a spectacular display in both batting and bowling to pilot India towards a sweeping 108-run victory over Bangladesh. This win brought the three-match series to an even 1-1, setting up an exciting finale on Saturday.

Jemimah Rodrigues matches greats with stellar show

Unlike the first ODI, besieged by rain, Wednesday’s game unfurled under ideal conditions. Having been put into bat Indian skipper, Harmanpreet Kaur's measured half-century (52 off 88 balls)) and Rodrigues' swift 86 off 78 balls hoisted India to a strong 228 for 8.

In response, Rodrigues and Devika Vaidya brought about a dramatic tumble in the Bangladesh batting order. The hosts crumbled from a robust 106 for 3 to a scanty 120 all out in just 38 balls, with Vaidya picking 3/30 and Rodrigues ending the game with an astounding 4/9 from 3.1 overs.

In doing so, Rodrigues secured her a place in a coveted list in Indian cricket history. She joined the exclusive club of Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, and Yuvraj Singh - each of whom has previously scored over 80 runs and bagged four wickets in an ODI match.

Tendulkar had achieved the feat in the 1998 ICC Knockout Trophy quarter-final, scoring a ton (141) and taking four crucial wickets against Australia.

Ganguly followed suit in the 1999 Pepsi Cup, blasting an unbeaten century (130*) and capturing four wickets against Sri Lanka.

Yuvraj mirrored the accomplishment in the second ODI of the India-England series in 2008 with an impressive 118-run innings and a four-wicket haul.

Likewise, Wednesday belonged unequivocally to Rodrigues who joined this envious list of legends with a terrific achievement. The right-hander’s blistering 86 and lethal bowling, claiming four victims, both of which are her career-best performances in the format, proved instrumental in India's series-levelling win over Bangladesh.
