In a significant turnaround, England have restricted Australia to 317 in the first innings of the ongoing Ashes Test after, although the latter sat comfortably at 183/3 at one stage. Chris Woakes, being a chief architect of Australia's collapse, claimed his first Ashes five-wicket haul as he ended the innings with Josh Hazlewood's wicket.

Hazlewood nicked a Woakes delivery to third slip as Ben Duckett took a catch and helped the pacer achieve the feat.

Interestingly, Woakes could have bagged the milestone a little earlier had he not bowled a no-ball to Hazlewood in the 85th over that saw the Aussie being dismissed on an illegitimate delivery.

It happens to be second fifer for an England bowler in the Ashes 2023. Besides Woakes, Mark Wood is the other Englishman to have taken a five-for in the series.

The 34-year-old was the match-winner for his team with both bat and ball at Headingley. He again has brought the hosts back in the game as they now will look to overhaul Australia's first-innings total.
