India and Australia registered thumping wins on June 6 in their respective Test matches in two different parts of the world. Shubman Gill and co. defeated England at Edgbaston on a flat deck while Australia beat West Indies on a spicy wicket.
The pitch in England has come under scrutiny for its lack of help for the bowlers. So, Pat Cummins, too, was asked about the same during his press conference after the win against West Indies.
Pat Cummins Shares His Thoughts On India-England Edgbaston Battle
The Australian skipper in his reply said that he wasn't watching the game and added that probably Marnus Labuschagne must be watching it. He mentioned that they will keep an eye on the upcoming matches and also took a cheeky dig at the Edgbaston pitch.
He stated that no one would like to bowl at Edgbaston, and he is not surprised that the wicket has been termed as the third flattest in the history of English cricket. However, he added that he expects the series to be interesting with it levelled at 1-1 after India's historic triumph.
"I wasn't (watching India vs England), probably Marnus (Labuschagne) was, we'll keep an eye on it. Who'd want to be a bowler over there? Well, I wouldn't be surprised (over Edgbaston wicket being the third flattest wicket in English history). Looking at Test cricket his week over here compared to that, looks like two different sports. It looks like it is going to be a good series, 1-1 now," Cummins said after Australia took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series," as quoted by SportsTak.
As far as Australia's performance in the West Indies is concerned, the Kangaroos have sealed the three-match series with comprehensive wins in the initial two matches. The Australian caravan will now move to Jamaica for the third Test, while India and England will face off at Lord's.
