India have registered a thumping 336-run win over England in the Edgbaston Test to level the five-match series in style. There were many quality performers both with the bat and ball, but it is Akash Deep who has grabbed the most headlines with his heroics on a flat deck.
Akash Deep Takes Top Position In The Elite Indian Bowling List
The right-arm pacer bagged four wickets in the first innings and picked six in the second to become just the 2nd Indian bowler to pick 10 wickets in a Test match in England. Chetan Sharma was the first one to do that, but Akash Deep has given one run less than what Chetan Sharma did, making it the best figures for an Indian bowler in England. Chetan Sharma achieved that feat in 1986, and so Akash Deep has finally broken the long-standing 39-year-old record.
Jasprit Bumrah and Zaheer Khan, two of the finest Indian pacers, have nine wickets in a single Test in England. BS Chandrasekhar, the mystery spinner, follows them with his figures of 8/114 in UK. Thus, Akash Deep has surpassed some of the greats of Indian cricket and has shown the world the kind of damage he can do with the red cherry.

Akash Deep Shows Proves His Red-Ball Credentials
Akash Deep also bagged his maiden five-wicket haul during the second innings of the Test. He now has 25 wickets in eight Tests, and though he is known for his exploits with the new ball, the pacer also displayed his utility with the old ball during the final day of the Test match.
Along with Akash Deep, Mohammed Siraj also bowled well and the duo has created a record of most wickets by an Indian opening bowling pair in England. Overall, India have found a gem in the form of Akash Deep in the second Test match, and the management would be hoping for more such performances in the upcoming matches.
