On Monday, July 7, Wiaan Mulder scripted history as he pipped Hasim Amla to smash the highest individual total by a South African batter. The 27-year-old is batting on 325 and broke Amla's 311-run feat.
It is an emotional day for Mulder as he is also leading the Proteas and scripted the feat of becoming the first-ever South African captain to slam a triple-hundred in Test cricket. No other skipper from the Rainbow Nation has ever done this before.

Wiaan Mulder Takes Over Keshav Maharaj As Captain
The ongoing two-match Test series between South Africa and Zimbabwe isn't a part of the WTC cycle, which is why the Proteas rest their key stars such as regular skipper Temba Bavuma, Kagiso Rabada, and Aiden Markram.
Keshav Maharaj was handed the leadership for Zimbabwe series, but the star all-rounder picked up an injury in the first Test on Day 3, which was later revealed to be a groin issue. The all-rounder was ruled out of the 2nd Test and Wiaan Mulder was roped in as the captain for the ongoing match.
Mulder Shatters Record For Highest-Individual Score Away From Home
Wiaan Mulder is in the form of his life as the SA stand-in captain, at the time of writing, has shattered plethora of records. Most importantly, Mulder now holds the record for the highest-individual score in Test cricket away from home.
Hanif Mohammad of Pakistan previously held the record after he smashed 337 against the West Indies in Barbados in 1958.

Wiaan Mulder is in the form of his life as he took just 297 balls to reach his triple-century. He is also the second-fastest after Virender Sehwag to slam a 300 in Test cricket.
Mulder is having a series to remember as he has already slammed 529 runs in three innings, averaging 264.50.
