After a heartbreaking defeat in the third Test of the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar trophy, Team India is eyeing a mighty turnaround in the upcoming clash. As Bumrah’s workload has become a concern now, his availability in the fourth Test is still under wraps.

Though the pacer was slated for just three Tests, worries grew that he might miss the crucial fourth. But former Indian batter Deep Dasgupta wants the speedster to play the match as Team India is already struggling in the series.

Deep Dasgupta Insists Bumrah Must Fire Up Fourth Test

Despite being the main face of Team India’s pace bowling unit, Jasprit Bumrah’s workload management has become a tricky puzzle. Scheduled for just three Tests, he played the opener, rested for the second, and returned for the third. But after losing the last game, Team India now finds itself cornered in the series.

After the last setback, the upcoming Manchester Test has become a crucial one to keep the hope alive in the series. Speaking on Star Sports, as quoted by News18, former batter Deep Dasgupta called for Bumrah’s inclusion, hoping his presence can spark a much-needed turnaround.

“Jasprit Bumrah in the fourth Test, absolutely yes. I’ve heard rumours that the plan for him was to play in the first, third, and fifth Tests. But now, when India are 1-2 behind, the fourth Test becomes very, very crucial. You would definitely want the world’s best bowler to play,” he said.

Eight-Day Window Is Enough For Bumrah To Reload

After the second Test match ended on July 14, the fourth Test match of the series is a week apart, commencing on July 23. Given the recovery window, Deep Dasgupta believes Bumrah should suit up for this must-win clash, adding that the fifth Test can be considered later.

“There is an eight-day gap between the two Tests. It remains to be seen whether the fifth Test is still relevant after the fourth Test, but the relevance of the fourth Test is considerable,” he added.

Trailing in the ongoing series by a 1-2 margin, Team India heads to Manchester with a tough challenge ahead. Their record there may not inspire much confidence, but Shubman Gill and Co. are ready to script a new chapter.
