The Test match thrills are back in the best possible way as the ongoing Test series between India and England is spreading unreal thrills. In the last Test match, the dead fight between both sides scripted another tale of classic red-ball thrills.
Chasing 193, Team India’s hopes were crushed in a heartbreaking finish, despite the nation clinging to Siraj-Jadeja’s valiant last-wicket stand. Even Ravichandran Ashwin’s father joined the collective hope as the spinner revealed this in a recent discussion.
'Batter' Siraj Sparks Ashwin’s Dad’s Hope For A Miracle
Coming off a dominating victory, Team India had the biggest heartbreak at the Lord’s. Despite showing initial grit, Team India failed to chase down the 193-run total and faced a heartbreaking defeat. As the top order and middle order collapsed initially, a gritty fightback from Jadeja, alongside Bumrah and Siraj, reignited hopes of a miracle.
Jadeja and Siraj’s 23-run stand at the last wicket made fans hopeful for a surprising comeback. Sharing a light moment on his YouTube channel, Ravichandran Ashwin revealed that even his father believed Siraj would finish the job, imagining him sealing the win with three sixes.
“Ben Stokes bowled an unbelievable spell. I was discussing this with my father. He was assured that Siraj would finish it by smashing three sixes. I was asking him to cut down the jokes. Looking at Ben Stokes, he started talking about a bowler from his league games, who used to bowl from both ends,” he said.
Heartwarming Praises For England Skipper
Despite early struggles, England held their nerves, resulting in an exceptional win at the iconic Lord’s. Ben Stokes turned the game with his brilliant spell, breaking the Jadeja-Bumrah stand and piling pressure on India. Speaking on the match, Ravichandran Ashwin praises Stokes’ brilliance in the final innings.
“In both spells of 9.2 and 10 overs, he was bowling at 132-140 kph. At one end, you had Jadeja, standing like a fortress, stitching India's resistance, and on the other, you had Stokes doing the same for England,” Ashwin added.
The devastating 22-run defeat in the last match mounted more pressure on Team India as England took the lead of the five-match Test series by 2-1. As the next match commences soon, the visitors will fight hard to level up the series.
