Indian batter KL Rahul posted a motivational social media post, reflecting on the team’s defeat in the Border-Gavaskar Series against Australia. Rahul, who featured in all five Tests, acknowledged the fierce competition and promised to turn the tide in the next series.
India lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy to Australia after nearly a decade. Despite leading the series 1-0 after an emphatic victory at Perth, the men in blue struggled to match the challenges thrown by the host team.
With a defeat in the Sydney Test, the visitors capped off the series with a 1-3 defeat. Meanwhile, KL Rahul was the most talked about cricketer on the tour.
KL Rahul posts emotional message after series defeat vs Australia
He replaced captain Rohit Sharma as opener in the Perth Test and scored a gritty 77 to steer India to a victory. He retained his opening spot for the next two Test only to be dropped to no.3 for the Boxing Day Test.
This constant shuffles didn’t help India, as Rahul managed to score just 276 runs in 10 innings with an average of 30.67.
Meanwhile, days after the series concluded, KL Rahul took to his Instagram handle to post a motivational message for his team. He shared a photo of team India in the whites and recalled the lessons and growth witnessed in this tour.
"While the series didn’t end in our favor, it was a journey filled with lessons and growth. The fierce competition and fight from the Australian team and fans tested us, but the amazing support from our supporters kept us going. We will strive to turn the tide next time. 🏏🇮🇳," Rahul wrote in caption.
Rahul showed a lot of promise on the Australia tour. Hence, with Rohit Sharma’s future in jeopardy, he could end up being India’s favourite opener for the five-game Test series against England.
Rahul skips Vijay Hazare trophy
KL Rahul has decided to take a break after a challenging five-match Test series against Australia. He withdrew his name from Karnataka's Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025 squad. The opening batter will probably be taking a few days off before the ODI series against England begins. Rahul will probably return to the white-ball side as India tries to find the right mix for the Champions Trophy 2025.
