The Champions Trophy 2025 is knocking at the door and Pakistan fans can't keep their calm as 'King' Babar Azam has jumped back in form to unsettle critics. The veteran batter displayed absolute class in the recent South Africa series which significantly helped him move up ICC's latest Test batting rankings for men.

Babar Azam has surpassed Australia's Marnus Labuschagne, Sri Lanka's Dinesh Chandimal and Dhananjaya de Silva, to secure the 12th rank in the list where Joe Root currently reins at the top with England's prodigy Harry Brook hanging in the second place.

Babar Azam Inches Close To Top 10 Test Batter Ranking

After ICC released its latest men's Test batting rankings, Babar significantly jumped 5 positions to be placed just below Saud Shakeel who moved down five points from his previous ranking and sits at the 11th position. Interestingly, not only Babar Azam but other Pakistani cricketers like Mohammad Rizwan have also shown significant progress by moving two ranks up in the list.

Meanwhile, the explosive all-rounder Salman Agha also moved one rank up to be seated at the 22nd place as he was rated with 636 points. Shan Masood too made an impressive climb of 12 places to reach the 45th spot in the ranking list.

Babar Azam's Champions Trophy Prospects Looking Sweet

Babar Azam has been in scintillating form in the past few matches and is one of the favourites to perform big for his country in the upcoming Champion's Trophy. He made headlines with his big score of 81 against South Africa in the second Test where he had a record-breaking partnership with Shan Masood.

Babar also had an impressive ODI outing against the Proteas with consistent scores of 23, 73 and 52 which the Mohammad Rizwan-led side clean swept 3-0. Hence, Babar showing significant improvement in his form and with an impressive strike rate of 88.21 and an average of 56.73 in his ODI career, he will be an non-disposable asset for the Men in Green for the upcoming prestigious tournament.
