As the highly anticipated Southern Derby between CSK and (RCB) approaches, CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad has expressed his excitement about facing Virat Kohli. He explained that when Kohli is in the opposition, he always looks forward to that fixture.

The battle between CSK and RCB has always been one of the biggest rivalries in the IPL, second only to the legendary clashes between CSK and MI.

However, this season’s first encounter carries extra weight for Chennai, as they seek redemption after RCB shattered their playoff hopes in IPL 2024 in a virtual eliminator.

Ruturaj Gaikwad Eager To Face Virat Kohli Ahead Of CSK-RCB Clash

CSK has historically dominated RCB at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, having not lost to them at the venue since the inaugural IPL season in 2008.

Regardless, home captain Ruturaj Gaikwad is not undermining RCB’s strength this season, especially with Virat Kohli’s sublime form.

“They have done really well every year now. And whenever Virat Kohli is in the opposition, whenever he is playing, it is always a clash to look forward to. He’s been doing it for a really long time now, consistently for RCB and for the country as well. So, it is always a great match, and after Mumbai Indians, this is the second match we always look forward to," said Gaikwad to JioStar.

Gaikwad also extended his best wishes to Rajat Patidar, who was recently appointed as RCB’s new captain.

“Really looking forward to playing against RCB, especially with Rajat (Patidar) as the new captain. Immediately when they announced Rajat as the captain, I messaged him and wished him good luck. We have been friends for a while now, we know each other really well, and obviously, RCB has been one of the strongest teams," he added.

RCB’s Jitesh Sharma Mocks CSK

RCB's wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma has sparked controversy ahead of the high-stake clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Chennai Super Kings.

In a viral video, Jitesh was questioned regarding Chennai and its fans, and though most of the players replied in a positive manner, he apparently made fun of them by singing "Dosa, Idli, Sambar, Chutney" in a South Indian accent.

The song, originally released in 2022, gained traction again this year, and Jitesh’s rendition has divided opinions.
