The 3rd ODI between India Women and England Women turned out to be a thrilling contest, with both teams giving their all in a bid to outplay each other. However, beyond the battle with the bat and ball, it was the fielders who truly emerged as the heroes of the match.
With the BCCI's Impact Fielder award now a customary practice in the dressing room, the India Women’s team continued the tradition. After the match, a special award ceremony was held to acknowledge the outstanding efforts on the field.
Rodrigues Gets Fielder of the Series Medal with Special Gesture
Sharing a cheerful, high-energy video of the Impact Fielder of the Series award on their official handle, BCCI Women captioned the post, "A musical surprise awaits the winner..." The video featured fielding coach Munish Bali delivering an encouraging speech to the players in the dressing room after India clinched the ODI series 2-1 against England.
The nominations for the best fielder included Deepti Sharma, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Richa Ghosh, all of whom impressed with their sharp fielding. However, the winner wasn’t revealed immediately. The players were asked to move downstairs onto the field for the prize ceremony, where Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur awaited them.
Harmanpreet Surprises Everyone With The Ukulele
Harmanpreet, seen holding a ukulele, added an element of suspense. As the players gathered, she announced that the Impact Fielder of the Series award would go to someone who loves playing the ukulele, hinting that Jemimah Rodrigues (to whom that Ukulele belonged) was the winner. Overjoyed, Jemimah rushed to hug Harmanpreet, who handed her the ukulele and the medal for the award.

Up next, India Women will host Australia Women for a three-match ODI series, starting September 14. The first match is scheduled to be played at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh.
