After a comfortable 17-run win in the first T20I, Australia will lock horns against South Africa in the second match of the three-game series on Tuesday, August 12.

In the series opener, it was a collective effort from all the players as Tim David shone with the bat, Josh Hazlewood with the ball and most importantly, Glenn Maxwell with the field. The Punjab Kings all-rounder hogged the internet after he took a blinder on the boundary ropes.

Maxwell Eyes Big Catching Record

It was an important moment in the match as Maxwell's effort helped Australia get rid of South Africa's dangerous man, who was batting on 71 (55).

In that match, Maxwell took two catches and now stands on the brink of breaking David Warner's long-standing record in the 2nd T20I against the Proteas.

Notably, Maxwell now has 61 catches in T20I cricket and is just two wickets away from surpassing Warner to take the most catches for Australia in the shortest format of the game. Here is the complete list.

Overall, South Africa's David Miller holds the record for most catches in T20I cricket, as the star player has 81 catches to his name.

Maxwell On The Cusp Of Another History

Not only catches, but Glenn Maxwell stands the chance to become the first Australian cricketer to score 150 sixes in T20I history. Notably, the Big Show has 145 maximums to his name and stands a chance to become the fifth batter overall to have 150 or more T20I sixes.

Further, Maxwell only need three more wickets in the 2nd T20I to become the first Australian to complete a rare double of 2500+ runs and 50+ wickets in T20Is.
