'When The Time Comes..,' Suryakumar Yadav Optimistic About Test Comeback Before BGT

India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav recently addressed the discussion around his Test comeback. The star batter stayed relaxed and unhurried about the matter. Suryakumar Yadav is leading Men In Blue in the four-match T20I series against South Africa, starting on Friday, November 8.
Suryakumar Yadav shared his mindset on the situation with the media. His comments follow India’s surprising 3-0 Test series loss at home to New Zealand. Notably, Suryakumar wasn’t part of the Test squad during that series and, to date, has only one Test match appearance for India.
When speaking about his intentions in Test cricket, Suryakumar expressed that he was keen on representing India again in the longer format. Ahead of the first T20I in Durban, he spoke at a on the eve of the exciting clash, he said,
"When the time comes, I will make a Test comeback, I am playing all the domestic tournaments, be it red-ball or white-ball. I don't miss any game. If that [Test comeback] has to happen, it will happen."
Suryakumar Yadav's Performance In Domestic Circuit
At 34, Suryakumar has had limited opportunities in Test cricket, with only a single match under his belt, which he played against Australia in Nagpur in 2023. Although he showed promise in that format, he hasn’t been called up again, as India’s Test team prepares for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, starting on November 22 in Perth.
Despite his very less experience in red-ball cricket, Suryakumar has been impressive in the domestic cricket. Over 84 matches, he has scored 5,656 runs at an average of 42.84, which includes 14 hundreds, 29 fifties, and a top score of 200.
