'We Opened Jerseys...': Riyan Parag Opens Up About His Bond With Star Opener Abhishek Sharma

In the recently concluded five-match T20I series, India defeated Zimbabwe and clinched the series 4-1 on Sunday. The 'Men in Blue' displayed an all-round performance. India faced a surprising 13-run defeat in the first T20I. 

Shubman Gill and Co. came up with better plans for the rest of the series and bounced back with four consecutive wins to seal the series. 

Riyan Parag Open Up About His Bond With Abhishek Sharma 

After India secured the series by winning the fifth T20I by 42 runs, Riyan Parag opened up about his relationship with Abhishek Sharma. He also stated that he had a conversation with Abhishek and both of them dreamt of playing cricket for India, which turned into reality in Zimbabwe. 

Riyan Parag talking to the broadcaster also revealed that the duo unpacked their Indian jerseys together in the hotel room before their first match.

"We opened our jerseys together. I went to his room, he opened it first and then I did. We played the 2018 WC together and next 6 years we did not play. Doing it with him was pretty special," Riyan Parag told the broadcaster after the match.

The series also witnessed a memorable start for several young players who made their debut under the keen and experienced observation of stand-in coach VVS Laxman. 

After winning the recently concluded T20 World Cup Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja announced their retirement from T20I. 

So in the series against Zimbabwe, a total of five uncapped players began their international careers. In the first T20I, Riyan Parag, Abhishek Sharma and Dhruv Jurel made their debut and later on, Sai Sudharsan and Tushar Deshpande got their debut caps in the second and the fourth game, respectively.
