India took down the USA at the Nassau County Stadium and made it three wins in three games in the group stages of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and sealed their qualification for the Super Eights on Wednesday, June 12. Rohit Sharma praised Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube to take India through.

Bowling first, India restricted the hosts to 110/8 while being led by Arshdeep Singh who took a four-fer while just conceding 9 runs. However, the US made it a tough task for India to chase that down, scalping Virat Kohli on a golden duck and Rohit Sharma for just 3 (6).

Rohit lauds SKY, Dube

Yadav was joined by Dube when India was 44/3 but the two stitched an unbeaten partnership to see India through. After a close-fought contest, skipper Rohit Sharma lauded Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube for their match-winning performances.

"We knew it was going to be a tough task—credit to us for chasing it down. SKY and Dube did well in the end. Lots of the US guys, we've played together. Happy with their progress, I saw them in MLC too. They're hard-working guys making a mark," said the Indian captain.

On Arshdeep's fantastic effort with the ball and using Dube as another bowling option tonight,

"We knew our bowlers had to take the lead as scoring is tough on this pitch. Arshdeep started off magnificently. [On Dube bowling] We want options with us, as and when we feel like we could use them, we should be and that's what Dube allowed," the 37-year-old added.

The Hitman also expressed his relief to becoming just the third side after South Africa and Australia to make it to the Super Eight, saying the previous three games could've gone either ways.
