Already knocked out of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, defending champions England managed to register their second win of the competition, beating the Netherlands by 160 runs last evening.

Led by Jos Buttler, England have been in shambles across the six matches they have lost, showing poor cricket, and mindless approach.

However, a win over the Dutch, have ensured that England have in contention for a spot in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan, if they finish seventh in the points table.

Former captain and 2019 World Cup winner Eoin Morgan has stated that the win on Wednesday will help Buttler and Co. gain confidence. Speaking to Sky Sports, Morgan explained how good results allow teams to breathe and relax during a rough phase.

Here's what Morgan said

“They'll have done a huge amount of talking throughout this tournament. The longest meetings are always after the biggest defeats. They can take a lot of confidence from today. But results, chipping away with little performances like this, do make a difference. They allow sides to take some time, breath, relax and go this is what we do well, let's stick with the same plan,"

England batters slammed a mammoth 339 runs on the board, with Ben Stokes scoring a quick-fire 84-ball 108 and opener Dawid Malan registering a solid 87. In reply, Netherlands folded for 179 as spinners Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid claimed three wickets apiece.

The Three Lions play their final World Cup 2023 match against Pakistan on Saturday in Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
