Ben Stokes, the celebrated all-rounder of the English cricket team, came out of his abrupt ODI retirement to participate in the ongoing ICC Mens Cricket World Cup 2023. However, the defending champions are currently in the midst of one of their worst CWC campaigns.

Not only did they fail to qualify for the semis, but England are standing on the brink of the champions' trophy qualification elimination.

To salvage the latter setback, England took on the Netherlands on Wednesday and secured a comprehensive win. They stumbled again after losing five wickets with a mere 178 runs on board. But Ben Stokes came to the rescue at the right time. Having said that, with only formalities remaining in the tournament for England, will Stokes depart early?

Ben Stokes To Stay In India Until The End Of England's CWC Campaign

Stokes, the dark horse of the England cricket team, unleashed his brilliance against the Netherlands on Wednesday.

At 178/5, the all-rounder walked in and slammed a magnificent century in a mere 84 balls to lead England to a total of 339, which proved to be extremely good enough for a side like the Netherlands. Spin wizards Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid bundled the Dutch to 179 to secure a much-needed confidence-boosting win.

However, after the game, rumours flew that Ben Stokes was set to depart to England and would miss the team's final league game against Pakistan. Stokes' underlying knee injury further fuelled the speculations.

As rumours gained momentum, Stokes squashed the unverified claims.

"No, I don't leave anyone hanging. Happy to get back to winning more than getting a ton. It's been a tough World Cup," Stokes said.

The all-rounder will stay with the team till they wrap up their disastrous CWC campaign to regroup back in England.

Ben Stokes is currently playing through a knee injury. He missed the initial few games in the tournament, which hurt England deeply. Also, the all-rounder has been advised to undergo surgery to recover quickly before the next big tournament.
