Rain Forecast In NZ vs SL; Will Kane Williamson & Co. Get Knocked Out?

New Zealand, the leading contenders for the only remaining semi-final spot of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023, will play their pivotal last group stage game on November 9 against Sri Lanka. A win will confirm a playoff berth, whereas a defeat would leave them at the mercy of NRR.

However, ahead of the decisive clash, Kane Williamson is worried about an unanticipated unknown element. The New Zealand vs. Sri Lanka game is set to take place in Bangalore, a city currently reeling under incessant rainfall. Not only that, a forecast of rain has been issued for the game day, which has added an unknown element to the crucial matchup, says Kiwi skipper Kane Williamson.

New Zealand To Focus On Cricket Amid Rain Threat

Despite the risk of ill weather playing spoilsport, Kane Williamson is determined to put up a good show on Thursday.

"There's lots of things that we can't control, and the weather is one of those. There may be a thought in the back of your mind, but at the end of the day, our focus will be on the cricket that we want to play," Willamson said.

Kane Willamson further added that New Zealand is not at all under pressure as the guys are experienced enough by now to tackle such unprecedented situations. The past heartbreaks, such as the 2019 finals defeat, won't play any role mentally as such. Right now, the team's focus is to assess the conditions well and adapt accordingly to put the best foot forward and secure the much-needed victory.

Additionally, the Kiwi skipper informed that injured pacer Lockie Ferguson is fit enough to take the field. He earlier missed New Zealand's past two games due to an Achilles heel injury. However, his selection against Sri Lanka would largely depend on the pitch conditions.
