IND vs AUS, T20I Series: CSK Superstar Likely To Lead India In Hardik's Absence

In just ten days we will be having the champions of the World Cup 2023, and right after the tournament, the teams will begin the preparations for the T20I World Cup 2024, which will be happening in the month of June.

Team India are hosting the 5-match T20I series against Australia right after the World Cup, beginning from the 23rd of November. With the tight schedule and ample travelling during the ongoing World Cup, the senior and even some regular players will be rested for the series as there's only a 4-day gap after the end of the tournament. With Hardik Pandya injured, the question is, who will be leading the team in the coming series?

Meanwhile, the Australian team might play their full-strength team as they are already in India playing the World Cup. A few T20 specialists from Australia might fly to India, as the Australian management will try to find the right combinations for the T20 World Cup.

Surya, Ruturaj likely to lead vs Australia

Recently, the Maharashtrian opener, Ruturaj Gaikwad led the first-ever team to represent India at the Asian Games 2023. The Indian team also clinched Gold for the first time as Indian cricket participated in the multi-sport event for the first time.

So there's a possibility that Ruturaj Gaikwad can be the one to lead India against the Australian team. But if one or two senior players feature in the team, someone like Suryakumar Yadav, then the leadership can be given to him for not just being the senior, but also the experience he carries.

He also led the Mumbai Indians team in the IPL 2023 when Rohit Sharma played as an impact player. So one of these two players will carry the burden of leadership on his shoulders.
