Shubman Gill made a hilarious mid-interview interruption as India's rising middle-order aggressor Rinku Singh went about explaining his fitness regime and spoke on the guidance from legendary head coach Rahul Dravid ahead of the T20I series against South Africa.

During his interview on BCCI.tv before the opening T20I of the three-match series in Durban on Sunday (December 10), Rinku spoke about his routines and revealed the secret behind his agility in the field as well as holding tag of a quick runner between the wickets.

Just when the youngster was into his thoughts and explaining why he runs fast, he got interrupted by opening batter Gill, who amusingly said, "Bandar kata hai isliye tez bhagta hai (a monkey bit him that's why he runs quick)".

The funny jibe was taken in wonderful spirits by the Uttar Pradesh lad as he agreed sarcastically to the word by his former Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) teammate and even showed his hand with some signs of bruise to suggest the monkey bit him there.

"I’ve always been conscious about my fitness. I can run faster and it was in mind that when I play on a big stage, my fitness has to be top-notch," he said before Gill entered the scene with a humour-filled cameo.

Rinku also spoke gleefully about his pre-series interactions with Dravid, having played all his previous T20Is under interim coach VVS Laxman, and said the former India skipper has defined his role in the side at No.5-6 as the designated end-overs powerhitter.

"Working with Rahul sir is a great feeling. His message was simple, ‘Do what you have been doing so far and believe yourself.’ He said your position is No. 5 where batting is not easy but keep believing in yourself," Rinku said.
