Chennai Super Kings sensation Tushar Deshpande recently smashed a century for Mumbai against Baroda during the quarterfinal of the Ranji Trophy 2024. The pacer walked in to bat at the last position of number 11 and scored a magnificent century while giving a strong message to the opponents.

The team franchises participating in the upcoming 17th season of the Indian Premier League also got a strong warning from the young bowler to be prepared for him not only as a bowler but as a batsman as well.

Tanush Kotian and Tushar Deshpande became the first duo to walk at numbers 10 and 11 and score centuries. At the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy BKC, Mumbai, the batting duo put 232 runs on the board as Mumbai scored 569 runs against Baroda.

‘My father always believed’ - Tushar Deshpande on getting backed as an all-rounder

After the game, Tushar Deshpande dedicated his phenomenal knock and technical shots to his father. He admitted that he wanted to prove that he could also perform as an all-rounder. He said,

"Feeling very satisfied with the knock because I was batting at No 11 and I was able to do this. I always wanted to prove that I could bat. My father always believed that I could be a very good all-rounder and this innings was for him. I can hit big, I have played a lot of rubber-ball cricket and I used to hit big from the U-14 days."

As his fellow batsman, Tanush Kotian remained unbeaten and Tushar got dismissed at 123, the CSK bowler further discussed that he has no grudges for missing the record of creating the highest partnership in the Ranji Trophy at the 10th wicket.

Tushar said,

"The only thing that I had in mind was to play as per the merit of the ball. The ball before (his dismissal) I hit for a six and (on) the ball that I got out, it did not go my way but no grudges that we could not complete the record… another day I might get an opportunity and I will try to do that.”

Tushar Deshpande will next gear up in the yellow jersey for the upcoming IPL 2024. The defending champions, Chennai Super Kings will play the first match of the season against Royal Challengers Bangalore in their home ground Chennai on 22nd March.
