Kolkata Knight Riders lifted their 3rd IPL title on May 26 after they beat Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final and ended 10-years-long wait to get their hands on the trophy. 

KKR, who last won the title in 2014, roped in Gautam Gambhir as a mentor for the 2024 season, and his magic did wonders for the side. Every department did its job to perfection, but player who emerged as a surprise package was seamer Harshit Rana.

The right-arm seamer, who made his IPL debut in 2022 with KKR, rose through the ranks over the years and featured as a key bowler in 2024 season. The 22-year-old emerged as his side's second-leading wicket-taker this season. Notably, Rana took 19 wickets in 13 games, only behind Varun Chakaravarthy, who took 21 wickets. 

Rana, who hogged the internet for his bowling, was also in the news for his controversial celebration for which he even sat out for a game as a punishment. Harshit celebrated SRH's Mayank Agarwal's wicket in the league stage match with a 'Flying Kiss' which left the internet divided. 

Several fans even challenged Rana to imitate his 'Flying Kiss' gesture in front of Virat Kohli. However,  the seamer refrained from such celebration  when the two teams met in the group stage. In the latest events, the right-arm seamer broke the silence on whether he will sledge Virat with his signature celebration in future. 

"People dared me to try and do it in the RCB match. But I didn't tease him [Kohli]. I have respect for him. I have respect for every player, but no, I wouldn't do it in front of him," said Rana.

Rana also commented on Mayank Agarwal and stated that he had a chat with the SRH batter in the finals and revealed that the two share great equation.
