Former Indian batsman Navjot Singh Sidhu has thrown his weight behind the inclusion of Virat Kohli in India’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad. The cricketer-turned-commentator signified the importance of Kohli as well as that of Indian captain Rohit Sharma for the high-profile tournament.

Navjot Singh Sidhu, return to the commentary box through the upcoming IPL 2024 season, has unequivocally called for the inclusion of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in India’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad.

As quoted by the PTI, the cricketer-turned-commentator described the legendary batting duo as the “giants” of the cricketing world, who “will be needed” by Team India at the high-octane T20 event in West Indies and the USA in June this year. 

“Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will be needed there in T20 World Cup 2024. These are giants of the cricketing World. Form is like the morning dew, it can elude you but the class of these people has the stamp of authority," he said.

While Rohit Sharma is on course to lead Team India at the T20 World Cup 2024, several unconfirmed reports indicate that Virat Kohli might well be axed from the travelling Indian squad for the tournament.

Regardless, both Sharma and Kohli are scheduled to represent their respective franchises in the upcoming IPL 2024 season in India. 

While the former has been stripped off his captaincy role by the Mumbai Indians management, the latter will be making his return to competitive cricket through IPL 2024 for the RCB franchise.

The IPL 2024 season is slated to commence with a match between RCB and defending champions CSK on March 22 at Chennai.
