In a worrisome update, Mumbai Indians’ lead pacer Jasprit Bumrah would not be joining the pre-season camp in Mumbai. Instead, he is expected to directly link-in with the squad in Ahmedabad where MI’s season opener versus Gujarat Titans is scheduled.

Mumbai Indians set up their pre-season camp in Mumbai last week ahead of the impending 2024 IPL season. With the league opener just days away, the majority of MI players checked in this past week, with former captain Rohit Sharma having marked his presence on March 18.

That being said, the absence of fast bowling maestro Jasprit Bumrah has grabbed eyeballs for a while. Bumrah was last seen in India’s five-game Test series against England, which concluded on March 9. Since then, the pacer has been advised to rest due to excessive workload and is off the radar.

That being said, as per News 18’s recent report, the pace stalwart is unlikely to join Mumbai Indians’ pre-season camp scheduled in the city. Instead, he is expected to fly down to Ahmedabad to directly link-in with the squad on March 21.

Notably, MI will be playing its season opener against Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad on March 24. Thus, Bumrah will land in Ahmedabad this week and will participate in two-three practice sessions before taking on GT in the season opener.

“Yes, Jasprit Bumrah will join the team directly in Ahmedabad on March 21. He will have good two-three days of practice there before the first match vs Gujarat Titans on March 24,” sources tell News 18.

Having said that, Jasprit Bumrah is supposedly fit and his absence in the pre-season camp is merely precautionary. He has had a hectic few weeks against England, having participated in four of the five Test games. Therefore, MI camp has nothing to worry about for now.
