Wanindu Hasaranga, the Sri Lankan all-rounder, won't be participating in the upcoming Bangladesh test series due to a Code of Conduct violation.

Hasaranga decided to return to test cricket for the Bangladesh series after retiring from the format last year. Hasaranga's IPL team SRH was informed that he wouldn't be available for the first couple of games. However, just as he was returning to Test cricket, the ICC banned him from playing the next two games.

However, there is a common perception that his ban is a blessing in disguise for SRH, as he might be available for the Orange Army right from their first game. However, according to the laws of the game, he has to be part of Sri Lanka's Test squad and sit out while being present with the team, which puts his participation in the initial few games for SRH again in doubt.

The code breach incident occurred during the recent Bangladesh ODI series in the third match. Hasaranga expressed his disagreement with the umpire during the 37th over. After completing his over, he snatched the cap from the umpire to show his dissatisfaction with a decision. Bangladesh had won this ODI series for 2-1.

As a result of the four suspension points, Hasaranga faces a ban that translates to missing either two Tests or four ODIs or T20Is, whichever occurs first. Consequently, he will be absent from the upcoming ICC World Test Championship Tests against Bangladesh.

Sri Lanka's ODI captain, Kusal Mendis, has been fined 50% of his match fee for an incident that occurred after the third ODI against Bangladesh. He was penalized for verbally abusing the umpires while shaking hands with them.

Controversial Ban-SL Series

Since the controversial 'time out' wicket of Angelo Mathews during the World Cup at Arun Jaitley Stadium, a wave of drama has engulfed the Sri Lanka-Bangladesh matches. Following Sri Lanka's defeat in the third ODI, Bangladeshi batter Mushfiqur Rahim mocked Angelo Mathews' dismissal, adding fuel to the tensions.

Another contentious moment occurred in the second T20I when Soumya Sarkar was given out by the field umpire, with a visible edge detected on the spike. However, despite clear evidence, the third umpire overturned the decision, sparking further controversy and debate.
