Team India had a magnificent start to the Border-Gavaskar trophy. The Optus Stadium witnessed India’s massive win by 295 runs over the Australian side. After having a shaky start, Team India made a noticeable comeback and took a crucial lead in the series.
The Indian batters performed exceptionally, especially in the second innings. The victory become even more sweeter with Virat Kohli’s 81st century. His exceptional unbeaten century knock strengthens India’s batting lineup. After this mighty triumph, captain Jasprit Bumrah praised King’s performances.
Bumrah’s Huge Praise for Kohli
Team India entered into the Border-Gavaskar trophy after being whitewashed by New Zealand on home soil. As the series began, the Indian fans were waiting for King Kohli's show. After being dismissed for only five runs in the first innings, the King’s bat shone bright in the second innings. His unbeaten century in 143 balls helped India to put on a lead of more than 500 runs. After winning the match, captain Bumrah praised Kohli for his masterclass.
“I have said this before, Virat Kohli doesn't need us, we need him. He is an experienced player. This is his fourth or fifth tour. So he knows his cricket better than anyone else. He looked in good shape, he was mentally switched on. Sometimes when you have such a long career, you bat in tough conditions and he has batted in tough scenarios for a long time, but it's difficult to do that all the time in every match," said Bumrah.
“But he looked to be in a good space and obviously, he got a good delivery in the first innings, but he was still in a great space and he capitalized in the second innings. We needed an experienced batter then. He also played well, and helped his partners play well as well. So obviously, when he gets confidence at the start of the series, you can't ask for more than that.” Bumrah added.

Yashasvi Jaiswal's 161, KL Rahul’s crucial 77 and Virat Kohli’s unbeaten 100 gave a huge boost to India’s innings. In the last innings, the Indian bowlers dominated the Aussie batters, outfoxing them with their brilliant spells.
