As the entire world is busy witnessing some thrilling Test series across the globe, Bangladesh registered an outstanding victory against Ireland. Thriving on the home soil, the Tigers earned a historic 217-run victory over the visitors.

With the recent victory, Bangladesh cleaned up the series by a 2-0 margin and marked a momentum. After the triumph, skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto couldn’t hide his excitement, showering his team with praise.

Heartfelt praise flows for the team

After a thrilling victory in the first Test, Bangladesh channeled their domination form in the recently ended game, and the world witnessed their firepower. As the world was under the Tigers’ domination on their home soil, Ireland’s bounce-back captivated hearts. Along with the batting brilliance, the bowlers grabbed the attention.

Bowling in the first innings, Taijul Islam’s magical bowling, Ebadot Hossain, and Khaled Ahmed’s economical bowling in the first innings, and Hasan Murad’s last innings helped them to seal the victory. After the victory, Captain Shanto hailed them for their brilliance.

“I am very proud of how our boys responded. Taijul, Miraz, and Murad were outstanding, and then Khaled and Nayeem came during the middle session and did something special for the team. Everyone chipped in when it mattered, and that made me really happy,” he said.

In the match, Mushfiqur Rahim played his 100th Test match and smashed a brilliant century in the first innings. Adding to this, Litton Das’ hundred gave a massive boost to Bangladesh’s first innings. When the team returned for the second innings, gritty knocks from Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Shadman Islam, and Mominul Haque turned into priceless assets, earning big praise from the skipper for their fighting spirit.

“If you look back at the whole two-match series, there were centuries from Litton, Mominul, and Mushfiq, and that is a big positive for us. Different players put their hands up in different situations, and that is what we always want as a team,” he added.

A well-crafted plan leads Bangladesh to red-ball triumph

Over the years, batting has been the biggest worry for Bangladesh as their top order used to crumble under pressure. But in the recently ended series, Bangladeshi batters defied every odds and registered a historic Test victory. Shanto revealed that flawless execution of their plan was the real secret behind the glory.

“The plan before the series was very clear, where we wanted our top order to bat along and set the tone, and I think we executed that very well. Now the goal is to continue this in the upcoming series,” he said.

Even after Bangladesh took away the victory, Ireland’s brave fight back won hearts. Chasing Bangladesh’s massive total in the first innings, Lauren Tucker’s unbeaten 75 runs troubled the bowlers, and in the second innings, Tector and Campher’s gritty innings kept them in the match. After wrapping up the series, Shanto applauded their incredible effort.

“I'd like to congratulate Ireland for the way they batted, especially in these conditions. The resistance they showed was excellent, and we really appreciated that fight,” Shanto added.

Putting the red-ball glory aside, both sides will lock horns in a thrilling three-match T20I series. As the first T20I is scheduled on November 27, both sides will face each other in Chattogram in a fiery contest.
