As it happened, Nepal Blind Women’s team batted first and accrued 114-5 in 20 overs. Sarita Ghimire top-scored in the innings for Nepal by chipping in with 35* from 38 balls. Bimala Rai also made 26 at run-a-ball and crafted a crucial 65-run partnership with Sarita.
For India, Jamuna Rani Tudu (1-21) and Anu Kumari (1-23) picked up a wicket each, with Nepal losing their remaining three wickets courtesy of run outs.
In response, India Women’s Blind team chased down the target in just 12.1 overs with seven wickets in hand. While captain Deepika TC and her opening partner Anekha Devi both fell early in the innings, number three Karuna K and fellow middle-order batter Phula Saren shared a match-defining 51-run partnership, where the former listed 42 from just 27 balls. However, it was Phula Saren who won the ‘Player of the Match’ award for carving 44* from 27.
This 2025 Women’s Blind World Cup title goes far beyond a trophy, marking a breakthrough moment for blind cricket as well as for women’s cricket in India overall, especially considering the senior women’s team also lifted the 2025 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup under the leadership of Harmanpreet Kaur earlier this month.
