Young Indian left-arm spinner Vaishnavi Sharma has expressed her desire of bowling to India’s all-format great Virat Kohli. The 20-year-old also stated that she wants to become like legendary Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. Just a month ago, Vaishnavi Sharma made her international debut for the Indian Women’s team during their home T20I series against Sri Lanka.

While the youngster demonstrated her bowling pedigree with a couple of match-winning spells in the series, the Madhya Pradesh cricketer recently went unsold at the WPL 2026 auction for the upcoming edition of the tournament.

Vaishnavi Sharma expresses rare cricketing crossover in her desire

During a recent interview with sports anchor Ravish Bisht, India Women’s cricketer Vaishnavi Sharma was asked to name a cricketer whom she would like to bowl at. Without hesitation, the wily left-arm spinner named legendary Indian batter and run-machine Virat Kohli.

The Madhya Pradesh star also picked seasoned all-rounder and fellow left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja when she was asked to name one cricketer she would like to replicate.

After going unsold at the WPL 2026 auction a couple of months ago, Vaishnavi Sharma was included in Team India Women’s squad for the home five-match T20I series against Sri Lanka in late December. Throughout five matches, the youngster picked up five wickets in five innings and maintained an impressive economy rate of just 6.26 as Team India went on to clinch the series 5-0 in Vizag and Thiruvananthapuram.

In the second and fourth T20Is of the series, Vaishnavi Sharma picked up two wickets each to restrict the Sri Lankan batters.

With no WPL 2026 action in slight for young Vaishnavi, it remains to be seen if the Madhya Pradesh spinner will find a place in the Indian Women’s squad for next month’s all-format tour of Australia after her impressive outing against Sri Lanka at home.
