Hardik Pandya slapped a 19-ball half-century against Chandigarh in Baroda’s Elite Group B match of the 2025-26 Vijay Hazare Trophy season on Thursday, January 8; i.e., mere days after registering his maiden List A century. The senior all-rounder blasted 75 runs in all from just 31 deliveries with two boundaries and nine huge sixes to lead Baroda’s counterattacking rescue after losing early wickets.
Hardik Pandya’s latest fiery display also sustained his prolific run with the bat, after the 32-year-old whacked a couple of match-winning half-centuries in India’s T20I series against South Africa last month.
Hardik Pandya rings warning bells for bowlers before T20 World Cup 2026
Hardik Pandya has sent out a strong warning to all opposition bowlers’ mere weeks prior to the launch of the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka. Shortly after smearing his maiden List A ton with a fighting 133 for Baroda, the senior Indian all-rounder went ballistic against Chandigarh bowlers on January 8 in the 2025-26 Vijay Hazare Trophy season.
Batting at number six for Baroda and stepping into the crease at a precarious 123-4 in 20.4 overs, Hardik caned Chandigarh with a whirlwind 19-ball half-century in his thunderous knock of 75 from just 31 balls.
Pandya slams quickfire 50
After reaching 23* off 13, Hardik launched three huge sixes and two cracking boundaries in the space of just five deliveries, all off Chandigarh’s Taranpreet Singh in a huge 27-run over, to race to 49* from 18 deliveries.
He took a single off the very next delivery to bring up the 14th half-century of his List A career, and his second successive fifty-plus score this tournament.
Amidst his short Baroda stint in 2025-26 Vijay Hazare Trophy, Pandya will soon be re-joining the Indian squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series against New Zealand. The series itself will serve as a prelude to the next month’s 2026 T20 World Cup.
