In a thrilling display of skill and determination, Yashasvi Jaiswal stole the limelight on the opening day of the Test match against England at Vizag. Opting to bat first after winning the toss, captain Rohit Sharma's early dismissal for 14 by English debutant Shoaib Bashir seemed like a setback.

However, Jaiswal anchored the innings with precision, ending the day unbeaten at an impressive 179* alongside latecomer Ravichandran Ashwin.

After Sharma's departure, Jaiswal showcased his batting dominance, forming crucial partnerships that propelled India to a respectable total of 336-6 by stumps on Day 1. He shared a 49-run stand with Shubman Gill (34), a 90-run partnership with Shreyas Iyer (27), 70 runs with Indian debutant Rajat Patidar (32), and another 52 runs with all-rounder Axar Patel (27).

Renowned cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle, reflecting on India's performance, tweeted,

"It is not always that as a team you make 336 and are disappointed at the end of the day. Too many batters got in and didn't get a big score on a really good day 1 batting wicket. 450 is probably a par score on this track."

Harsha Bhogle thinks India might have conflicting emotions about their 336 on Day 1 in Vizag, as they could achieve a higher score.

As the cricket fans eagerly anticipate the second day's play, the focus shifts to whether India can reach Bhogle’s analyzed 450-run mark or face an early collapse. Bhogle's insight suggests that despite a solid total on the board, India missed the opportunity to capitalize fully on the batting-friendly conditions. The team will look to build on Jaiswal's remarkable innings and set a par score against the English bowling attack.
