Abhishek Sharma emerged as the star of the night in a high-voltage Asia Cup 2025 Super 4 clash against Pakistan on September 22, 2025. The young opener not just played a match-defining knock but also delivered a sharp verbal counter to Pakistan’s pace duo Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf during the game.

Talking about the match, batting first, Pakistan posted 171, on the back of a steady fifty from Sahibzada Farhan. But Abhishek Sharma’s fearless approach from the start made the chase look like a mere formality for the 'Men in Blue'.

Opening alongside Shubman Gill, the duo stitched together a 100-run partnership. While Gill fell just short of a fifty (47 off 28), Abhishek stole the show with a thunderous 74 off 39 deliveries. But what caught the attention more than just the fireworks was the intent behind them.

“The way they were coming to us for no reason, I didn’t like it. I thought I should give them an answer with the bat. I just wanted to deliver for my team.” He further praised Shubman Gill’s fearless approach, calling it infectious. Abhishek said at the post-match presentation. 


“When you see someone like him giving it back, it motivates you. That’s the intent I show. I’ve been practicing hard, and if it’s my day, I’ll win it for my team.”

It is important to mention that Abhishek Sharma's is at the top of the Asia Cup 2025 run charts. The Punjab batter has made 173 runs from four innings at a staggering strike rate of 208.43.
