Pat Cummins took his second hat-trick in consecutive games as Australia took on Afghanistan in match 48 of the ICC T20 World Cup and their second group 2 game in the Super Eights match in Kingstown as they look to seal their spot in the semi-final.

After putting Afghanistan in to bat first and conceding a 119-run opening stand, Australia looked for a comeback to restrict them at a low total. Cummins, on the final ball of his 3rd over dismissed the skipper, Rashid Khan on a slower one bowled at 109 km/h.

He followed up with dismissals of Karim Janat and Gulbadin Naib on the first two deliveries of his final over.

Cummins reflects on his second consecutive hat-trick

Afghanistan was restricted to 148/6 courtesy of his hat trick. The speedster reflected on his second consecutive hat-trick, calling it a crazy feeling.

"Yeah, I remember that one. Feels crazy. Have played 100s of games for Australia, but this feels special.

"Overall, it was a decent bowling performance. Happy with the way we restricted them to a total in the end. They batted well," Cummins added.

Talking about the poor effort during fielding from Australia in the first innings and how the pitch reacted,

"Not our best day in the field. As you said, it is uncharacteristic. Maybe the lights [were the reason for dropping catches]. [On Pitch] Not too much in it. Bit of spin through the 20 overs and a bit up and down. Not a terrible wicket to bat either" said the 31-year-old.

The Aussie bowler also credited Afghan batters for their running between the wickets and asked for his team to keep the scorecard busy.
