Prasidh Krishna was at the receiving end of a lot of criticism following his poor outing with the ball on day 2 of the first Test match against South Africa. However, India's former cricketer and batting coach, Sanjay Bangar came out in support of the Indian pacer, arguing that he isn’t the only bowler to have a below-par start to his Test cricket career.

Prasidh Krishna made his Test cricket debut in the ongoing first Test match against South Africa. However, he leaked 61 runs in 15 overs and picked just one wicket on day 2 of the Test match. Bangar reminded everyone that Jasprit Bumrah too had a similar start to his Test cricket career. Bumrah made his Test cricket debut in 2018 in Cape Town and conceded 73 runs in 19 overs.

"I feel this can happen. This has happened to somebody like a Jasprit Bumrah as well. I still remember the first Test which happened in Cape Town. On Day 1, he went for 60-70 runs. After that he resorted to his natural length, which is hitting the length hard," said Bangar.

"That's what you saw, the clear of point of difference that the team management was hoping from Prasidh might not come into great effect in the first spell itself. But in the second spell, we saw if he can stick to that length of hitting the deck hard and not go searching for swing, he can still be a handful. Early days for Prasidh, but he is not the only one who has had a sort of a below-average start to his Test career," Bangar added.

South Africa went onto score 408 runs in their first innings and Prasidh gave away 91 runs with one solitary wicket to his name in 20 overs. India were bowled out for 131 in the second innings and the Proteas registered a massive victory by an innings and 32 runs.
