Senior Indian batsman Shikhar Dhawan recently shared a heartfelt birthday post for his son Zoravar. The cricketer took to his Instagram account and opened up about the challenges he has been facing just to re-connect with his son, who his currently living with his mother Ayesha Mukherjee in Australia.

Both Dhawan and Ayesha had separated from their marriage, after the Indian opening batsman was granted a divorce by a Delhi court on October 4, 2023, citing mental cruelty as grounds.

As it turned out, Dhawan’s emotional post instantly went viral across social media, with several fans and followers of the cricketer expressing their sympathies towards his fighting cause. Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar also took note of the post, and expressed his supportive reaction by sharing an Instagram story for the Punjab Kings captain.

‘Hausla rakh …’ Akshay Kumar’s message for Shikhar

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar shared a supportive message for Shikhar Dhawan on his Instagram story, just a couple of days after the cricketer had expressed his struggles of meeting his nine-year-old son Zoravar.

The actor urged Shikhar to keep fighting for his son, and expressed his sympathies for the cricketer. He wrote:

“Really moved to see this post. As a father, I know that nothing is more painful than not being able to see or meet your child. Hausla rakh Shikhar…millions of us are praying for you to meet your son soon. God bless.”

On the cricketing front, Shikhar Dhawan was recently retained by the Punjab Kings franchise on IPL 2024 auction day. He was among the 17 players retained by them alongside Arshdeep Singh, Kagiso Rabada, Liam Livingstone, Jitesh Sharma among others.

The Punjab Kings management made further additions to their line-up at the auction on December 19. As Dhawan continues to get sidelined from Team India’s international assignments, next year’s IPL will likely mark his return to mainstream cricket.
