The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) team, under the leadership of Rajat Patidar, is set to go up against the Rajasthan Royals in yet another home game of the IPL 2025 season. Notably, the RCB franchise is yet to register a single win at their home ground of the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium this year despite playing three matches at the iconic venue so far.

In contrast, Patidar and co. have managed to register comprehensive wins in each of their remaining five away fixtures, defeating teams like CSK, Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals, Punjab Kings and even defending champions KKR at their home grounds.

Anil Kumble assesses RCB’s home problem

Former Indian cricketer Anil Kumble, also an ex-RCB skipper, has offered his advice to Rajat Patidar’s struggling home unit for future IPL 2025 matches at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Kumble believes that RCB batters need to assess the pitch and determine a winning total while batting first at the Chinnaswamy, and also acknowledged that they have not been great at the iconic venue lately.

While addressing the media on JioStar, he said:

“Batting first, they have not been great at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Assessing that pitch is really important, and they have not been able to do that batting first.”

The RCB franchise has so far registered five wins, all away from home, and sustained three defeats (all at home) from eight matches in IPL 2025. Currently ranked fourth on the IPL 2025 points table, the current NRR of the RCB group reads a commendable 0.472.

A win over Rajasthan Royals at this stage of the tournament will likely help them claim one of the top two spots on the 10-team standings, depending on the margin. The match against Rajasthan Royals will be hosted by the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Thursday, April 24 and the action will commence from 7:30 PM IST onwards.
