Lahore Qalandars, under the leadership of charismatic fast bowler Shaheen Afridi, will go up against Peshawar Zalmi in match number 14 of the PSL 2025 season on Thursday, April 24. Set to be hosted by the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, the match also presents a unique opportunity to several struggling Qalandars players in finding some form during the halfway stage of the competition.
Here, we analyse three struggling Lahore Qalandars players who will be aiming to big against Peshawar Zalmi in the highly-awaited contest.
1. Zaman Khan
Lahore Qalandars zealot and Pakistan fast bowler Zaman Khan is yet to pick up a single wicket this PSL 2025 season. While the speedster started off economically against Karachi Kings with a spell of 0-16 from his three overs, he conceded 22 runs from his lone over of the match against Multan Sultans in Multan a couple of days ago.
Zaman Khan PSL 2025 stats
Matches | Wickets | Average | Economy |
2 | 0 | - | 9.50 |
One of the most successful Qalandars’ pacemen in the last three seasons, Zaman Khan seems to have lost his touch as a premier wicket-taker. Moreover, his economy in PSL 2025 has turned out to be 9.50 so far.
It is imperative for Zaman to step up his game against Peshawar Zalmi if he is aiming to sustain his position in the Lahore Qalandars’ playing XI. Another wicketless outing or an expensive spell might well prompt the Qalandars management to axe the 23-year-old in favor of either Mohammad Azab or Salman Mirza. Both Azab and Mirza have been benched so far this season.
2. Haris Rauf
Senior Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf has managed to pick up just three wickets for the Lahore Qalandars franchise this PSL 2025 season in four innings. After picking one wicket in each of his first three games of the tournament, Rauf was whipped around for 54 runs off his three overs by Multan Sultans batters on April 22.

Matches | Wickets | Average | Economy |
4 | 3 | 48.66 | 10.42 |
With an extremely expensive average of 48.66 and an economy of 10.42, Rauf’s ineffectiveness is not only foiling captain Shaheen Afridi’s responsibility as the leader of the attack, but the speedster has also fallen to the brink of becoming a liability for his team.
Speaking of, the 31-year-old might still retain his place in the playing XI for a few more games, even if he sustains another miserable outing against Peshawar Zalmi.
3. Mohammad Naeem
Pakistan’s rising star Mohammad Naeem made his PSL debut this season after getting acquired by the Lahore Qalandars franchise. However, the 26-year-old is yet to light up the grand stage, despite featuring in each of Qalandars’ four matches of PSL 2025 so far, aggregating just 36 runs in four innings.
Holding a dismal average of nine, Mohammad Naeem is also striking at just 105.88 and has managed to tally just four boundaries and a couple of sixes.

Matches | Runs | Average | Strike rate |
4 | 36 | 9 | 105.88 |
The cricketer is yet to survive the opening powerplay and has been besieged by opposition’s fast bowlers and spinners alike.
Setting himself up against Peshawar Zalmi on April 24, Mohammad Naeem will be aiming to put up some runs on the board in a bid to extend his stay in the playing XI.
Another failure might prompt the Qalandars management to bring in explosive top-order batter Muhammad Akhlaq into the XI, considering the right-hander punched out a swift 59 in his previous T20 outing last month.
