Mumbai Indians Pummel SRH To Extend Winning Streak
Mumbai Indians pummelled hosts SRH in Hyderabad by seven wickets in just 15.4 overs in match 41 of the IPL 2025 season. The win also marked Mumbai Indians’ fourth in succession, and fifth overall as they jumped to number three on the points table. SRH batted first and accrued 143-8 from 20 overs, after slipping to 13-4 at one stage. Heinrich Klaasen composed 71 of those runs from 44 balls and shared a 99-run partnership with Abhinav Manohar (43 off 37). For Mumbai Indians, Trent Boult picked up sensational figures of 4-26 while pace mate Deepak Chahar also chipped in with two wickets with the new ball.
Chasing 144, Rohit Sharma bludgeoned 70 from just 46 balls, and Suryakumar Yadav belted an unbeaten 19-ball 40 to take Mumbai Indians to a comprehensive win.
Rohit Sharma Shatters Records With 46-Ball 70
Mumbai Indians opener Rohit Sharma completed 12,000 runs in his T20 career through the course of his 70-run knock against SRH in Hyderabad. The cricketer became only the second Indian in T20 history, and eighth overall to scale the landmark figure. Rohit Sharma also became the leading six-hitter for the Mumbai Indians franchise, eclipsing former teammate Kieron Pollard in the process. Sharma belted three sixes in the innings to extend his tally to 259 maximums for the Mumbai Indians across all IPL and Champions League T20 games.
Muzarabani, Bennett Headline Zimbabwe’s Thrilling Win Vs BAN
Zimbabwe secured a thrilling three-wicket win over Bangladesh on Day 4 of the series-opening first Test in Sylhet. Fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani picked up a sensational six-wicket haul to fold up Bangladesh for 255 earlier in the day. The speedster also snared three wickets in the first innings to finish with a nine-wicket match haul.
Chasing 174, Zimbabwe reached 95-0 courtesy of Brian Bennett’s second fifty-plus score of the match. However, a fighting five-fer from Mehidy Hasan Miraz, his second of the match, reduced Zimbabwe to 161-7 at one stage before a composed Wessly Madhevere steered the hosts to a 1-0 lead in the two-match series.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz Completes 200 Test Wickets
Mehidy Hasan Miraz picked up fighting figures of 5-50 in the second innings against Zimbabwe on Day 4 of the Sylhet Test. The spell marked his second five-fer of the match, and the 12th of his career as he completed 200 wickets in just his 52nd appearance for Bangladesh. Having made his Test debut back in October 2016, the cricketer is currently sitting on a pile of 200 wickets in 91 innings at an impressive bowling average of 32.42.
Notably, Miraz also became only the third Bangladeshi cricketer to breach the landmark figure after former captain Shakib Al Hasan and active teammate Taijul Islam.
SLC Name Sri Lanka Women Squad For Tri-Series
Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) named a strong 17-player Sri Lankan women’s squad for the upcoming ODI tri-series against India and New Zealand. Charismatic all-rounder Chamari Athapaththu is set to continue as Sri Lankan captain, and she will be accompanied by Vishmi Gunaratne, Nilakshi Silva, Hasini Perera among others.
The ODI tri-series will be played between April 27 and May 11 and all matches will be hosted by Colombo.
