'That Contagious Smile On His face' - Ponting Welcomes Rishabh Pant's Blockbuster IPL Return

Ricky Ponting, the head coach of Delhi Capitals(DC), has warmly welcomed the return of Rishabh Pant for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season.

After enduring a challenging period due to a severe car accident in December 2022, Pant is now declared fit to lead the team, much to the delight of the DC camp and fans alike. His comeback is highly anticipated following DC's ninth-place finish last season in his absence.


"What I witnessed today was really encouraging and thrilling. It's wonderful to be back with the Delhi Capitals family," he said, emphasising the upbeat vibe Pant returns to the group.

Ponting's reaction after their initial training session was filled with optimism.  He didn't hold back in expressing how important Pant was, saying, 

"We really missed him last year. He was missed by the entire tournament. Rishabh energizes the team so much. He's got that contagious smile on his face, he's hitting the ball with all the skill he always has, and he always makes his teammates feel better."

The ambition within the DC camp, under Ponting's guidance, is crystal clear. The Australian cricket legend articulated his intensified approach towards clinching the IPL title this year.

With Pant's leadership reinstated and DC's squad strengthened by new signings such as Kumar Kushagra, Tristian Stubbs, and Jhye Richardson, the team is poised for a strong performance in IPL 2024.

Their journey begins against the Punjab Kings on March 23, 2024, at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh Stadium in Mohali, aiming to leave last season's disappointments behind and achieve glory under Pant's captaincy and Ponting's mentorship.
