Rovman Powell, West Indies captain, revealed a conversation between him and West Indies all-rounder, Sunil Narine, about his return to the West Indies cricket ahead of the T20 World Cup.

The event is stated to take place after the end of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024), in June-July this year and will jointly be hosted, by the USA and the West Indies.

In the ongoing 17th edition of the IPL, Sunil Narine, 35, has been in some incredible form showcasing his extraordinary all-rounder capabilities. With the bat, he has smashed 276 runs in 6 matches with a strike rate of 187.76. He has also scalped seven wickets with an economy of 6.88.

In the recent match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Tuesday, at Eden Gardens, the left-hander smashed an explosive 49-ball century that also included 14 fours and six sixes.

He also scalped two wickets and took a catch but still ended on the losing side as Kolkata Knight Riders lost the match.

Powell On Inclusion Of Sunil Narine In T20 World Cup 2024

The Captain of West Indies informed that he has been talking to Sunil Narine regarding his return to the West Indies team and is also trying to convince him to come out of the international retirement for the T20 World Cup, but the dynamic all-rounder has been blocking out everyone.

"For the last 12 months, I've been whispering in his (Narine's) ears, but he's blocked out everyone. I've asked [Kieron] Pollard, [Dwayne] Bravo, [Nicholas] Pooran. Hopefully, before they select the team, they can crack his code," Powell said.

The Shreyas Iyer-led side will play its next fixture against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru on April 21, 2024, at Eden Gardens.
