Sunil Gavaskar's 'Can't Stomach' Remark To ENG Players Over Sledging Incident vs IND

In the aftermath of India's commanding series victory over England in the recently concluded Test series, former Indian cricket team captain Sunil Gavaskar has stirred the cricketing world with his insightful remarks on the simmering tensions between the two teams, particularly focusing on the issue of sledging.

In a column penned for Sportstar, Gavaskar delved into the root causes behind the verbal spats that often erupt when England and India lock horns on the cricket field. He pointed out a significant factor contributing to these exchanges.

Gavaskar also highlighted how the English players' potential availability for IPL franchises can be jeopardized due to commitments to their national team, leading to frustration and envy.

Here's what he said:

"That is also the reason why the England and Indian players get into verbal skirmishes so often when they are playing against each other. Not a lot of England players are picked in the IPL, mainly because they can be withdrawn by their Board anytime for a preparation camp or something, which leaves the franchises in a lurch.

Some of them can't stomach the fees for which some of the Indian players are bought and compare their achievements at the international level when the IPL auction dynamics can be so volatile and hard to explain or even understand. So you see more lip in the India-England encounters than in any other India match. That's why the pleasure of beating England is always greater."

India's resounding triumph, led by the astute captaincy of Rohit Sharma, further adds fuel to Gavaskar's observations. Despite England's initial victory under the Bazaball era, featuring the aggressive brand of cricket endorsed by coach Brendon McCullum and captain Ben Stokes, they faltered against an ascendant Indian side which led to their 4-1 victory.
