It goes without saying that the Indian seamers have come a long way in recent times. Not only have they advanced their game exponentially, but their pace has also picked up by a few extra yards. After seeing the Indian bowlers perform well, the former Pakistani legend points out the main reason behind their dazzling success on the global stage.

The 43-year-old believes that their increased consumption of meat has enabled them to accumulate more strength. Speaking to a local sports agency based out of Pakistan, Afridi recollected the glory days when Pakistan used to produce quality fast bowlers and indicated that India is also in a similar position right now.

"India has a huge 1.4 billion population, and the quality of cricket has changed [over the years]. Back then we used to say that they are producing great batters while Pakistan is creating good bowlers, but that was not the case as we were generating both bowlers and batters. However, their bowlers have now started eating meat, so they have gained strength."

Some decades ago, India had a reputation for producing extraordinary batting talent. However, that seems to be changing now as the Men in Blue have seen the rise of skilled bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Mohammed Shami to name a few. Siraj, who wreaked havoc in the Asia Cup final by picking up the fastest five-wicket haul, is currently topping the charts in the ICC Men’s ODI Bowler Ranking.

Meanwhile, in the ongoing World Cup tournament, team India started their campaign nicely with an impressive win against Australia on Sunday. The Indian pacers accounted for 4 wickets on a turning track which helped them restrict the Kangaroos to just 199. The Men in Blue are slated to play their upcoming game at Arun Jaitley stadium against Afghanistan on October 11.
