Wanindu Hasaranga, who missed Sri Lanka’s Asia Cup 2023 and World Cup 2023 crusades owing to a hamstring injury he picked up during the LPL 2023 season, has shared a huge recovery update for his eagerly awaiting fans through a social media post.

In a heartfelt caption, the cricketer thanked his fans for supporting him during his tough times and ensured that he will soon be making a return to the field for his country.


Wanindu Hasaranga drops recovery update after surgery

Wanindu Hasaranga took to his Instagram account on October 10 to share his first recovery update with fans following his successful surgery at the Princess Grace Hospital in England. The star all-rounder stated that he will be out of action for a while, but he is looking forward to overcoming his injury and coming back stronger-than-ever for Sri Lanka in international cricket.

Hasaranga expressed his appreciation to Sri Lankan cricket medical experts, as well as the RCB team management for assisting and supporting him during his tough time away from the field. The cricketer further thanked his family and all his well-wishers, and concluded his caption with an optimistic: “I will see you soon”.

Wanindu Hasaranga wrote:

“Hi everyone, I am happy to inform you that my surgery to repair the defect in my hamstring muscle/tendon was a success, thanks to the brilliant work of Prof. Fares Haddad and the amazing hospital staff. I will be out of action for awhile but I look forward to coming back stronger for my Country.”

“I am grateful for the efforts of Thihan chandramohan our National Physio, Sri Lanka Cricket, the ever so efficient Sri Lanka Medical Panel, my IPL Franchise RCB's Management, Shyam Impett and Will Quinn from my Management Team, for the assistance and support during this difficult time of my career. Your support to complete my surgery successfully is appreciated.”

Wanindu Hasranga picked up the untimely injury during his time at the B-Love Kandy franchise during this year’s Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2023 season.

Widely tipped to start out as one of Sri Lanka’s seniormost members at the 2023 Asia Cup and at the subsequent 2023 World Cup in India, the cricketer’s injury prevented him from making it into the final squad on both occasions by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).
