The much-anticipated World Cup tournament finally got underway as the defending champions took on the Blackcaps on October 5th at Ahmedabad. Although the World Cup is currently up and away, the cricketing fraternity does not seem to be happy about some bizarre developments that have surfaced so far within the past few days.

From last-minute changes to the schedule to visuals of poo-filled seats and empty stands, the BCCI is currently facing a massive backlash from fans around the world for its mismanagement of several aspects.

As the World Cup was set to be hosted during a busy festival period in India, several high-profile games, including the India-Pakistan clash, had to be re-adjusted at the request of the local police.

Amidst such a fiasco, ticketing also became a negative focal point as fans were forced to queue for hours to get a physical copy of their tickets. They did not have much luck either on “BookMyShow” as the tickets were shown “sold out” whenever they would be redirected to the booking page.

Furthermore, in an unusual turn of events, the BookMyShow website made 14,000 tickets available for the India-Pakistan clash just a week before the game leaving the fans completely perplexed.

Former Pakistani skipper Mohammad Hafeez unleashed a barrage of criticism in a recent cricket show in Pakistan and pointed out the various issues he's observed in the first week of the World Cup.

“Overall World Cup we have seen in 4 days. Till now I have seen poor organization, and poor planning from the organizers. Second, the biggest problem I have seen in this is that crowd response is not good. When you make a global tournament, you have to take your mind globally to make decisions. You can never make big decisions with small intentions," Hafeez stated.

In addition, there are other hosts of issues that have been troubling BCCI of late. As we continue to advance further into the tournament, fans would be hoping for a quick resolution to ensure that the tournament progresses in a seamless manner.
