It was a solid comeback from the defending champions England, who thrashed Bangladesh by 137 runs in Dharamsala after Dawid Malan smashed a valiant century to push his side to a gigantic total of 364. All this happened after the English side were stunned by New Zealand in the first game of the World Cup 2023.

However, even after this clinical win, skipper Jos Buttler seemed unsatisfied with his side's performance, where he mentioned that they should have scored more runs as, in the final few overs, they couldn't build a partnership.

"Really good performance, stuck to our guns. Really important for us after a bad performance earlier. The back end I think we should have scored a few more, we could do well with some partnerships at the back end."

Buttler's remark came after the top-order added plenty of runs to the scorecard, with Malan being the prime enforcer with 140, who was efficiently backed by Joe Root's 82. Jos added that their mindset of getting the right performance everytime is actually helping them to win games after games.

"It was fantastic to see Dawid Malan stand up and get a big hundred after what happened in the first game. We are always looking for the perfect performance, can't remember the number of times it actually works out."

He also discussed the challenges that come with different conditions and places, as adapting to various pitches is the key to success, considering they have a squad that consists of high-quality bowlers in both departments. Praising left-arm pacer Reece Topley for his incredible performance after he picked up four wickets to help knock over Bangladesh for 227, Buttler was content with him coming in and delivering straight away.

"One of the challenges is going to be reading the conditions and pitch well, we have a fantastic, balanced squad - a good combination of swing and spin. Today was fantastic to see Reece Topley come in and perform that way."

England's dominant victory have given them the first points of the tournament, and now, they will go and face Afghanistan in Delhi on 15th October.
