Rishabh Pant displayed incredible resilience on Day 2 of the England vs India Test as he returned to bat with a fractured foot. According to sources, the Indian medical team confirmed that Pant had suffered a serious injury to his toe’s index finger on his right toe and was initially ruled out for six weeks. However, Pant’s fighting spirit saw him back on the field.
Playing through pain and taking painkillers, Pant returned to bat on the second day after getting injured by Chris Woakes’ delivery on Day 1. The sight of Pant hobbling onto the field was both emotional and inspiring. Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh praised Pant’s bravery on Instagram, applauding his determination.
Yuvraj's Big Praise For Pant's Return!
Using his official Instagram handle, the 2011 World Cup winner shared a picture of Pant along with a heartfelt message, celebrating his fighting fifty.
For the unaware, Pant was batting on 37 when he had to be carted off the field due to the injury. On Day 2, he resumed his innings and went on to complete a half-century, scoring 54 off 75 balls before being bowled by Jofra Archer. Yuvraj, who himself made a remarkable comeback to cricket after battling cancer, commended Pant’s courage.
“True spirit shows up when the spirit is indomitable! Injury can shake the body but not the mind. Good Stuff!” wrote Yuvraj Singh on his Instagram story.
Despite Pant’s brave act, concerns remain over the seriousness of his injury. Playing with a fractured foot could further worsen his condition, and the long-term impact remains to be seen.
India's Difficult Road Ahead
While fans celebrated Pant’s grit, India’s innings came to an end at 358. In response, England reached 225/2 by stumps on Day 2, trailing by just 133 runs. With a full day of batting ahead, the pressure is now on India’s bowlers to restrict England and avoid giving up a commanding lead. The series hangs in the balance, and Day 3 could be crucial in deciding the fate of the contest.
