Despite high hopes of qualifying for the playoffs, the Delhi Capitals’ dreams were dashed. After facing a heartbreaking 59-run defeat against the Mumbai Indians, they exited the tournament.
Despite a promising start, their outing turned out to be poor. Following their heartbreaking exit, team owner Parth Jindal issued a heartfelt apology to fans.
DC Owner’s Apology To Fans
After a below-par season in IPL 2024, the Delhi Capitals bounced back in IPL 2025 in the new setup. Being unbeaten in the first four games, they lost their form in the middle and battled with their off-form. The last match against the Mumbai Indians ended their last dash of hope.
Watching their exceptional form since the beginning, DC fans hoped high for their maiden trophy win. But after a crushing exit from the tournament, owner Parth Jindal issued a heartfelt apology, acknowledging the team’s shortcomings and promising a stronger comeback next season.
“Sorry to all @DelhiCapitals fans - like you, I too am reeling from the second half of the season. What started so well ended extremely poorly. There are positives to take from this campaign, but for now, all focus on the next game, which we need to win. Post the season, there will need to be a lot of introspection on a lot of aspects,” Jindal said.
A Season Filled With Bittersweet Memories
As the Indian Premier League has entered its 18th season, the Delhi Capitals are still waiting for their maiden trophy. After parting ways with former captain Rishabh Pant, they appointed Axar Patel as the new skipper for IPL 2025, marking a fresh start. After winning the first four matches of the season, the fans couldn’t ask for a better beginning. The players delivered some nail-biting wins.
Soon, the rhythm was cut as they faced their first defeat against the Mumbai Indians. Three consecutive losses and two washouts hurt their chances, and a 59-run loss to MI crushed their playoff hopes. As they gear up for their final match against Punjab Kings, DC will look to end their campaign on a high note.
