Mumbai Indians Complete Playoffs Line-up Of IPL 2025
The Hardik Pandya-led unit has joined Gujarat Titans, Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru to form a formidable line-up for the playoffs. Delhi Capitals were handed a massive blow before the start of the game with their regular skipper, Axar Patel, out of the game due to fever.
Faf du Plessis decided to bowl first after winning the toss, and their bowlers kept control of proceedings for the majority of the innings. Suryakumar Yadav though, stood tall on a difficult pitch and played a stunning knock of 73 from 43 balls. He took MI's score to 180 and it proved to be a tough chase for the visitors against a quality bowling attack.
Delhi Capitals Outclass By Clinical MI
Delhi Capitals needed a good start from their experienced openers, KL Rahul and Faf du Plessis. However, both of them departed early, and DC could never comeback in the chase. Vipraj Nigam, Sameer Rizvi and Ashutosh Sharma did contribute a bit, but all MI bowlers kept attacking, and DC were eventually bowled out for just 121.
Mitchell Santner and Jasprit Bumrah picked three wickets apiece, and MI have now won seven out of their last eight matches. Delhi Capitals, on the other hand, faltered after a good start to the season with just two wins in last nine matches. Thus, it is the first time in IPL history, a team has failed to qualify for the playoffs after winning each of their initial four games.
Mumbai Indians now have a chance to break into top-2 and they will play their next game against Punjab Kings on May 26.
