Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz has been called back into the national T20I line-up for the upcoming tour of Pakistan. The 27-year-old will be replacing Soumya Sarkar, who has been ruled out of the series owing to a back injury.

Miraz played the last of his 29 T20Is for Bangladesh back in December last year during a series in West Indies. Since then, he was excluded from Bangladesh’s recently-concluded three-match T20I tour of UAE earlier this month.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz to extend his Pakistan stay

Mehidy Hasan Miraz is expected to join his national colleagues in Lahore next week for the series against Pakistan. He will replace senior Bangladesh all-rounder Soumya Sarkar, who has been experiencing right-sided lower back pain over the last few days.

National Team Physio Bayjedul Islam Khan confirmed that Soumya’s complete recovery and rehabilitation will take approximately 10 to 12 days, prompting him to be ruled out of the Pakistan T20I series.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz, however, is already in Pakistan as part of the Lahore Qalandars franchise for the ongoing PSL 2025 season. Under the leadership of Pakistan fast bowler Shaheen Afridi, Miraz and the rest of his Qalandars teammates will go up against Karachi Kings in the Eliminator on May 22.

Following the conclusion of PSL 2025, the 27-year-old might well stay back in Pakistan to catch up with his arriving Bangladeshi teammates. Bangladesh’s series against Pakistan is scheduled to launch from Wednesday, May 28 onwards with a match at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

The venue will also host the subsequent two fixtures of the three-match series on May 30 and June 1. The series serves as a crucial testing ground for both sides ahead of next year’s 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.
